“Did you know you can hold down this button and ask your phone what the weather’s like today?” It’s called Siri and it’s amazing!
That was a common conversation I would have back in 2015. For some, it was the beginning of something new and exciting “You mean it will tell me the time in Kuala Lumpur?!!”
We’re in a similar place with AI right now.
It’s huge and more than a little intimidating. It can do almost anything – write messages as if it was you, do a impressively deep research on which dishwasher to buy, summarise a long, dry report so you don’t have to read it, even help with an itinerary for your next family trip (how do I keep a moody teenager entertained in Lisbon?).
And because it can do so much, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed before you even start.
That’s why we start slow and find something interesting to make it do first.
No one likes feeling overwhelmed. So instead, we find a nice quiet moment with our clients, get a sense for how they work, and gently introduce one or two ways AI could help, like getting past the blinking cursor on a blank email, or speeding up that boring Excel task you always put off.
Then comes the light bulb moment. You mean it will do THAT for me? Yes please!
It’s not about using AI for everything. It’s about finding that one thing where it just clicks, and suddenly you’ve saved time, reduced stress, or unlocked a bit more brain space. That’s happened to me, and plenty of people I know (who now won’t stop telling me about their latest AI adventures).
AI is growing and will soon be everywhere. That doesn’t mean you have to dive in headfirst or radically change how you work. We recommend staying curious and starting small. Let someone show you a couple of things it can do.
And once you’ve had that “Siri moment” with AI, you might wonder what else it can do.
(PS, if your teenager is bored on your trip to Lisbon, here are some suggestions from AI:)
